PHILADELPHIA — Monday is the slow night that comedy clubs traditionally reserve for amateur open-mike night, and that’s not too far from what was happening on a recent Monday at the Helium Comedy Club here.
About 40 small-business owners, self-employed professionals, and individuals arrived by 7 p.m., mingled over chicken fingers, checked one another’s name-card stickers and talked shop. Then Ami Kassar stepped to the microphone in a T-shirt and jeans and thanked everyone for coming.
“Being an entrepreneur, a small-business owner, it’s kind of lonely sometimes,” Mr. Kassar said. “What bloblive is trying to do is to create a community. Tonight when you come up and share an idea, something just might trigger for you. Someone will give you feedback or offer you a connection that could help you take your idea to the whole next level.” (more)
